    Yorkshire Forward

    Yorkshire Forward was appointed by Central Government as the Regional Development Agency and is behind the economic regeneration of the Yorkshire and Humber region.

    Yorkshire Futures

    Yorkshire Futures is the Regional Intelligence Network for Yorkshire and Humber, providing information and intelligence about the region, for the region, to improve decision making and better preparation for the future.

    The new Yorkshire Futures discussion forums are now live.  The service is free, easy to use and is open to anyone who registers. The current discussion forums are:

    • Yorkshire Futures Forum (General Discussion)
    • Sub Regions Forum (includes GIS),
    • Research Forum (includes Futures Research)
    • Acxiom Lifestyle Data Forum (Subscribers only)

    Government Office for Yorkshire & The Humber

    The Government Office for Yorkshire and The Humber works with organisations across the Region to deliver Government policies and programmes and to contribute a regional perspective in their development.

    West Yorkshire Enterprise Partnership

    Their role is to build upon the current involvement of all the primary economic development stakeholders in the sub-regions, managing funding and programme delivery on behalf of the Small Business Service/DTI; Yorkshire Forward; the Learning & Skills Council/DfES, UK Trade & Investment and Government Office, for European Programmes.

    Members of the Partnership include:

    • The Leeds, Bradford and Mid-Yorkshire Chambers of Commerce
    • The Universities of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan, Bradford and Huddersfield
    • Leeds, Bradford, Kirklees, Wakefield and Calderdale Local Authorities
    • Independent SME representatives
    • Local Learning Partnerships

    Business Link West Yorkshire

    Business Link West Yorkshire, part of The West Yorkshire Enterprise Partnership Limited, is the first choice for all small to medium-sized businesses in the region looking for advice and support on any aspect of their business. They are the gateway to the whole range of national services available to such businesses.

    They assist entrepreneurs to set up in business and encourage and support small businesses to grow and succeed. Services range from quick advice on business matters to in-depth consultancy. A team of business advisers have specialist knowledge are able to help with issues such as Information Technology, Human Resources and Marketing.

    The organisation works closely with other local organisations across West Yorkshire to bring their services within reach of all businesses.

    Learning and Skills Council

    The Learning and Skills Council is responsible for funding and planning education and training for over 16-year-olds in England.

    Their mission is to raise participation and attainment through high-quality education and training which puts learners first.

    Their Vision is by 2010, young people and adults in England will have the knowledge and productive skills matching the best in the world.

    West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (METRO)

    The Passenger Transport Authority is a statutory body set up under the legal provisions of the Transport Act 1968, as amended by the 1985 Act.   The principal duty of the Authority, jointly exercised with the PTE (known as Metro), is to secure or promote the provision of a system of public transport which meets the needs of the area.

    West Yorkshire Local Authorities - covering the geographical areas of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

    Leeds City Region

    Leeds City Region comprises the 10 local authority districts of Barnsley, Bradford, Calderdale, Craven, Harrogate, Kirklees, Leeds, Selby, Wakefield, and York, which reflects the true area of how the economy of Leeds and the other cities, towns and rural areas in the city region functions; for example, 95% of people who live in the city region also work in the city region.

    Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce

    The MYCCI is one of Europe's largest Chambers of Commerce, based in Huddersfield it covers a geographical area which encompasses Huddersfield, Wakefield, Pontefract, Dewsbury, Castleford, Halifax, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden.

    It is a continually expanding business support organisation which has built on the solid foundations of its long history to deliver up to date, high quality business services throughout Yorkshire, the UK and internationally. The Chamber provides a comprehensive range of business and trade related services ranging from training and consultancy through to International trade, recruitment and childcare. It combines with this a strong policy and research division representing collective and individual interests.

    Yorkshire & Humber Regional Assembly

    As the voice for the region, it promotes and lobbies for the best deal for Yorkshire and the Humber - in Whitehall and in Brussels.

    It is the region's strategic partnership, developing and maintaining Advancing Together, the region's strategic framework, encouraging partners and organisations to commit to its delivery, both through expenditure and actions. We work to create a more sustainable region.  It is also the regional planning body, helping shape where and what types of development will meet the future needs of the region.

    In addition, on behalf of the region, it scrutinises how Yorkshire Forward spends money to achieve the best possible results in line with the Regional Economic Strategy.

    Yorkshire & Humber Regional Forum

    The Regional Forum is the strategic organisation for the voluntary and community sector, working across Yorkshire and the Humber with a membership of over 200 organisations.

    West Yorkshire Local Strategic Partnerships

    West Yorkshire Universities

    The sub-region is fortunate in having four major universities, the University of Bradford, University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University and University of Huddersfield.  The four work collaboratively to have a major impact on the West Yorkshire economy by raising the levels of Knowledge Transfer activity.

    The WYU Partnership, headed by the WYU Knowledge Transfer Director, works together to release its varied and powerful knowledge base - innovation, research and development, Higher Level Skills, Enterprise and student expertise.

    Groundwork 

    Groundwork is a federation of Trusts in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, each working with their partners to improve the quality of the local environment, the lives of local people and the success of local businesses in areas in need of investment and support.  Their Vision is of a society made up of sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy and safe, which respect the local and global environment and where individuals and enterprise prosper.

    JobCentre Plus

    Jobcentre Plus is a government agency supporting people of working age from welfare into work, and helping employers to fill their vacancies.  They are part of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and play a major role in supporting the Department’s aim to ‘promote opportunity and independence for all through modern, customer-focused services’.
